2022 Adventurer 901SB

This truck camper came with a single 100W solar panel and a 30A PWM solar charge controller. It also had two flooded lead-acid batteries that were in a compartment only accessible when the camper was not mounted on the truck, making it very inconvenient for regular maintenance. With the need to work remotely without relying on a generator or a campsite, we did a full electrical overhaul.

Five additional 100W solar panels were installed, in addition to the existing 100W panel. The panel layout still allows for walking room on the roof and accessibility for repairs if needed. The 30A PWM charge controller was replaced with a 35A MPPT.

Two 48V lithium iron phosphate batteries were installed to replace the two 12V lead-acid batteries. They were also relocated from their previous location to under the dining table bench. The layout was designed to accommodate an additional battery in the future if needed, without having to rearrange anything or remake any of the existing wires. A 48V to 12V buck converter was installed to allow for normal usage of the camper's 12V system.

A 3000W inverter was added to be able to use all of the outlets and microwave at any time, as well as occasional air conditioner usage. Because the inverter and other equipment were such a tight fit in this compartment, we added some temperature controlled intake and exhaust fans to make sure the system gets some fresh air when it's being used.

The entire system is monitored locally via a touchscreen display and remotely via Victron's VRM portal. This truck camper is now fully equipped to be powered by the sun for many years to come!
