2024 Forest River XLR Nitro 351

This toy hauler already had 600W of solar, but it was not enough to keep up with the electric-only residential fridge and other energy needs. Three additional 200W solar panels were installed, along with a new 100A solar charge controller to replace the old 40A charge controller. This allows the batteries to recharge faster, and more consistently end each day with fully charged batteries.

A 3000W Victron inverter was installed to allow for full use of the trailer's electrical system without the need for shore power or the on-board generator. Battery cables were upsized, and bus bars and fuses were added to accommodate the new inverter. Paired with the Victron battery monitor, this system is fully equipped to power everything it needs to, all while knowing the battery status and solar production. This is a great way to enjoy extended trips with modern commodities, all while being powered directly from the sun.

System Specs

  • Solar Array: 1,200W - (3) 200W Renogy (added to existing three 200W panels)

  • Solar Charge Controller: 100A - Victron 150/100

  • Inverter: 3,000W - Victron Multiplus-II 2x 120V
